Making it matter
The way furniture is manufactured matters to all of us. We’re a proud member of the Sustainable Furnishings Council, which champions environmental practices that reduce our ecological footprint. In recognition of our environmental commitment, Stoney Creek Furniture has again been awarded a High Score on the 2023 Wood Furniture Scorecard. This high score is an initiative of both the National Wildlife Federation and the Sustainable Furnishings Council. Find out more
In 2022 and into 2023 we have added new partners that have wood certifications along with other commitments to good environmental practices. We continue to discuss progress and commitment to sustainability with our current manufacturers and this includes multi categories of furniture. A lot of wood goes into the framework of better quality upholstery, so we feel that this wood needs to also be considered. Stylus is the perfect example. Their wood frames are now FSC certified which gets 5 stars from us and our customers. This is one of the factors that has lead them to be one of our top vendors. We have also added product from partners that have bigger commitments to our planet. See this in store signage that sits proudly in our latest gallery. In not so many years they are going to be carbon neutral. These are the types of companies that we want supplying our customers furniture for their homes.

In an effort to keep our older electronics and phone systems out of our landfills we use the company below. They come and take equipment. Some gets refurbished and the remaining gets taken apart and recycled.

Making Environmental Stewardship a Priority
At Stoney Creek Furniture, we are committed to the responsible use of forest resources, including the wood used in making the products we sell. We support the Forest Stewardship Council and other certification programs that promote responsible forest management and have set our own environmental standards for our suppliers to meet in producing the furnishings that we sell to our customers.
